The Making of Today’s Arctic: An Inuk’s Look at How We Got Here
From life before outside arrival through colonial expansion, trade and whaling, missionary activity, residential schools, settlement and relocation, sovereignty, resource extraction, and the militarization of the Arctic, this session offers a high-level introduction to the people, decisions, relationships, and forces that have shaped the Arctic we know today through the eyes of Jason Edmonds, an Inuk educator and expedition leader.

On Guard for Thee: Our Military in the Arctic
Major General (ret) Scott Clancy served in multiple squadrons of the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Canadian Armed Forces as a tactical helicopter pilot. As a Director General his responsibilities included all personnel, operations, logistics, infrastructure and strategic planning for the entire RCAF.
Scott’s last years of service saw him as the Deputy Commander of the Alaskan NORAD Region and finally Director of Operations for all NORAD in Colorado Springs. Scott now resides in Cobourg!
