Our speaker was University of Guelph Professor Emeritus David Waltner-Toews, a renowned Canadian veterinary epidemiologist who specializes in the diseases humans acquire from animals. Dr. Waltner-Toews is also the entertaining and engaging author of seven collections of poetry, two books of fiction, several textbooks on ecosystem approaches to health, and six popular science books with titles such as Origin of Feces, Food, Sex and Salmonella, and the just released On Pandemics: Deadly Diseases from Bubonic Plague to Coronavirus.
